JEWISH NATIONAL FUND ANNOUNCES 2014 NEGEV GALA HONOUREE
The Jewish National Fund of Canada – Manitoba/Saskatchewan Regional Branch is pleased to announce that Joseph J. Wilder, Q.C. will be the 2014 Negev Gala honouree. The official announcement took place on Sunday, August 11th at the branch’s inaugural “Breakfast For Israel” event, which took place at the Lakeview Resort & Conference Centre in Gimli, Manitoba.
“I am so pleased that Joe Wilder will be our honouree for the 2014 Negev Gala, remarked regional president Karla Berbrayer in front of an appreciative crowd of 120. He has a long list of credentials, with a history of leadership in the Jewish and general community. Joe is very worthy and deserving of this acknowledgement.”
Recently named President of the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, Mr. Wilder has an extensive record of national and local community service, including leadership positions with Canadian Jewish Congress, the Canada Israel Committee, the Winnipeg Jewish Community Council, the Winnipeg Football Club, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and others. He is a former school trustee and is a Senior Partner at the law firm of Wilder, Wilder & Langtry. He has been awarded the Sol Kanee Distinguished Community Service Medal (2008) and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012).

I am in awe of the remarkable work of the JNF in helping to build the State of Israel and the phenomenal number of projects it has undertaken. Founded in 1901, the Jewish National Fund has evolved into a global environment leader, planting over 240 million trees, constructing more than 250 reservoirs & dams and developing over 250,000 acres of land while creating more than 1000 parks and providing stable infrastructure for over 1000 communities.
The Negev Gala has honoured outstanding leaders from within the Winnipeg community since 1953. This gala is the Jewish National Fund’s most important fundraising event of the year. All proceeds generated are directed to environmental research and development projects in the State of Israel.
JEWISH NATIONAL FUND ANNOUNCES NIKKI YANOFSKY AS ENTERTAINER FOR NEGEV GALA 2014
The Jewish National Fund of Canada (JNF) – Manitoba/Saskatchewan Region is pleased to announce that dynamic jazz and pop vocalist Nikki Yanofsky will headline this year’s Negev Gala honouring Joseph J. Wilder Q.C. on Tuesday, May 27th at the Centennial Concert Hall.
“I can’t think of a better fit for the entertainment at Winnipeg’s Negev Gala. Nikki is young, incredibly talented, Canadian and her success has been skyrocketing”, stated regional president Karla Berbrayer. “So thrilled to have her headline our event!”
From her auspicious start as the youngest headliner in the history of the Montreal International Jazz Festival at 12, Nikki Yanofsky has covered plenty of territory over the last seven years. She has topped both jazz and pop charts, performed with orchestras and big bands, and sold out festivals and major theatres around the world; in 2010, she sang to 3.2 billion people – half the world’s population – at the Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Games.
She has worked with luminaries such as Herbie Hancock, Phil Ramone, Will.i.am, Wyclef Jean, and Elton John, and now, under the guidance of her greatest fan and mentor, Quincy Jones, Nikki is ready to introduce her own captivating new sound. Get ready to be amazed by her inimitable voice as she arrives at the unique crossroad where jazz meets pop, delivering sizzling songs that blend retro charm with a contemporary sound executive produced by 27-Time Grammy Award Winner Quincy Jones.
